Kotoko vow to ensure fan safety on Sunday

Spokesperson for the National Circles Committee of Asante Kotoko, Nana Kwame Dankwah has told Citi Sports that fans of the Porcupine Warriors would be advised to put up good behaviour when they go to the Accra Sports Stadium this Sunday.

Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko will face each other in another instalment of their rivalry as the Ghana Premier League enters week two.

Dankwah has indicated that the followers of Kotoko would be cautioned against bad conduct that could lead to negative consequences during and possibly after the match which means a lot to the fans of the teams.

“The supporters are aware of the fact that matches between Hearts of Oak and Kotoko in recent times are always huge and they are of high priority.

However, it does not mean that they should not do what is right.

We are going to Accra to watch a game of football not to fight so I keep on telling them to be decent in their actions and comport themselves.

I know that there will be ample security as a precautionary measure but they will be there to protect lives and property", Danwkwah said in an interview with Citi Sports on Wednesday.

He also revealed that there will be a security meeting of stakeholders for Sunday's match on Thursday at 2pm at the match venue.

He also said that the ensure safety of the fans would be ensured as they travel to Accra from Kumasi to watch the game and as a body, they would expect a victory to keep the Reds' good start to the season going.

“We are putting a lot in place to make sure that Sunday will be very pleasant for the fans. All the aspects of preparation are being looked at and we expect the game to go our way.

The supporters are happy at how the season has begun and they would like a win over Hearts on Sunday so the technical team must also get the boys ready."

Both Hearts of Oak and Kotoko are looking for their straight win of the new league season after beating New Edubiase and Aduana Stars in their respective match day one fixtures last Sunday.
