New figures from Bloomberg Sports suggest that Chelsea will be the best English club - but only have an 8.9% chance of winning
English teams are set to struggle in this season's Champions League, according to a study from Bloomberg Sports.
By using data-driven projections, a team of boffins has concluded that Chelsea are the most likely Premier League team to pick up the trophy, with a 8.9% chance of winning - far behind the favourites Barcelona who have a 21.3% likelihood of tasting glory at the Estadio da Luz in May.
The next English team to figure is Manuel Pellegrini's Manchester City side who have a 7.2% chance, followed by their cross-City rivals United, who have 6.4% chance of winning. Arsenal fans look away now - you've not even featured on the list.
The projections take into account each club's historic performances, transfer activity and the draw each side has been given.
Favourites Barcelona have a slight edge over holders Bayern Munich, with Real Madrid also figuring high in Bloomberg Sport's projections, which you can see in full below.
